Wollastonite

Wollastonite is a calcium inosilicate (CaSiO₃) mineral mined in New York State by Vanderbuilt Minerals and marketed as Vansil. It is a certified organic, naturally occurring mineral and displays remarkable properties in agriculture. Wollastonite has been show in numerous studies to increase the biomass of  plants and vegetables by adding plant-available silicate to the soil. 

Add 1-2 tablespoons as a top-dressing to existing container plants and 1/4 cup top dressing per square foot of existing raised bed soil. Much of our soil here in Astoria receives heavy rainfall and becomes acidic as a result. Wollastonite is excellent to use as a substitute for lime in this context.
